2011 Competition
Award Description
The TD Bank Financial Group in agreement with the University of Alberta has established an endowment fund to be administered by the Health Sciences Council, University of Alberta, under the direction of the Vice Provost. The fund will provide one $10,000 studentship for 2011-2012 to support a student or trainee at the masters, doctoral or fellowship level. The studentship will be awarded to a student who has an active role with an interdisciplinary (cross-faculty or multiple health/allied health disciplines) health sciences research team, who will be taking part in a health research project and who describes or demonstrates his/her interest and potential to excel in interdisciplinary health research.
This award will be administered through the Health Sciences Council (See Appendix 1 for a brief description), according to University of Alberta policies on student awards. The recipient(s) will be chosen based on the recommendation of a review/selection committee appointed by the Associate Director, Health Sciences Council.
Eligibility of Candidates
Those candidates who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
· Registered full-time in graduate or fellowship program in one of the following Health Sciences faculties or programs:
o Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences
o Nursing
o Medicine and Dentistry
o Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
o Physical Education and Recreation
o Rehabilitation Medicine
o School of Public Health
o Relevant health sciences faculties at Augustana Campus
· A strong academic record
· Interest in exploring opportunities to increase interdisciplinary or team-based scholarship and collaborative practice in the health care system
· Has a Supervisor who holds an academic appointment with a health sciences faculty through the University of Alberta and possesses a record of productive health-oriented research including peer reviewed grants, publications and conference presentations/abstracts
· Involvement in a health research project with an interdisciplinary focus and interdisciplinary team (i.e. cross-faculty or two or more health disciplines)

Applications must be submitted on the attached fill-in Studentship application form using the font as set in the form, and must be signed and dated appropriately by required signees. RSO signatures are not required for this studentship. See link below for application form.
The following requested attachments should be included: (1) candidate’s up-to-date official or unofficial past and current transcripts; (2) candidate’s abbreviated CV; (3) supervisor’s abbreviated CV; and (4) letter of reference (sealed in an envelope and signed by the referee).
